As the story goes, she strapped her husband's guns on around the waist of her dress and got to work. She meant business! When her term was expired, Imogene moved to Warren County and raised her two daughters, Dorothy and Lenora. Dorothy was about a year old when her father was killed. Imogene was pregnant with Lenora, who was born about six weeks after the tragic event occurred. Lenora passed away in 1965 and Dorothy in 2025.

My sister and I enjoyed the privilege of taking Dorothy back to the old Spencer Courthouse, where her father was murdered 85 years earlier and her mother became the county Sheriff.
