Hattie Jane Young Ritter was born in Marlow, OK, on December 7, 1938. She was named after both of her grandmothers, including Hattie Haston on her maternal side. She grew up in the Marlow area. She met a boy named Arbuary Ritter when she was 6 and would eventually become his wife in 1958. They were married 66 years when he passed in 2024. Arbuary pastored the Union Valley Baptist Church in Cookietown, OK for 60 years. He was the Southern Baptist Convention’s longest serving pastor at one church when he retired due to declining health in 2021. Jane was a wonderful pastor’s wife. She taught herself to play piano and organ and also worked in the nursery so much that they named it after her. Jane also taught 2nd grade in Burkburnett, TX for 31 years. She has always been an avid reader and lover of history, so genealogy became a hobby she enjoyed long before the internet existed. She has 3 children (who remember lots of library trips all over so she could research), 3 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. She lives on a ranch near Marlow, Ok.
