Sixteen years ago, no one knew for sure Daniel Haston’s country of ancestral origin. Was he English, Scots-Irish, Dutch, German, or of some other European ethnicity? Now, since 2008, we know his ancestors were Swiss Hiestands. This current 397-page book delves deeply into his European ancestral history, based largely on original Swiss documents going back as early as 1401.  With the assistance of prominent Swiss historians and translation experts competent in translating “old German” script into English, this project was possible but extremely challenging.  The costs and efforts have been rewarded with this scholarly publication featuring early Swiss Hiestands and related Canton Zürich families such as Stricklers, Brubakers, Baughmans, Landises, et al., especially those with Anabaptist roots.

The contents of The Swiss-German Heritage of Daniel Haston strategically parallels Chapters 1-8 of (2022) The Story of the Daniel Haston Family, with approximately 300 additional pages of historical information.

The book contains 397 colorful (8.5″ x 11″) pages, approximately 350 images, and about 850 footnotes. It also includes a coffee table-style cover and an extensive index.
